A great poetic distraction

Thanks for enjoying this little time!

I started with both combinations that included the cherry blossoms before clicking the last pair, and I'm glad I did, because I think that was the most emotionally impactful way of leaving off the experience for me. Good job.

Thank you very much! It was challenging and fun to come up with different stories, I'm really happy that you've enjoyed the first one you got! ๐Ÿ‘

No problem!

A lovely experience and reminder.

Only change is constant.

Thank you! Yes, Only change is constant isn't something easy, I really wish things could stay the same when everything is good but we need to learn to appreciate the ephemeral nature of existence even more instead!

Thank you very much! Your comment truly summarizes what I wanted to convey, this is quite appreciated!

Very cool mood ! Simple and efficient, I liked it !

Thank you for enjoying it! It took me time to find the right stories but I really wanted to make the game look simple, so I'm quite happy that you felt that!

As for the stories, it's simple at first glance yet become somehow meaningful when you re-thought about it. And it just hit-the-spot. It has a great concept with good execution. I think I can see the way you merge the optional theme decay with the limitation buildings in Tatemono no Omoide (sorry if you actually didn't merge both the theme and the limitation).

As for the arts, it's classic, kinda ambiguous (only few), and are really really a good one.

As for the music, it's moody, balanced, fitting, and not overdone.

For jsmonzani, the creator!

I think I can see the way you merge the optional theme decay with the limitation buildings in Tatemono no Omoide (sorry if you actually didn't merge both the theme and the limitation). It's interesting and unique. I love all of the stories. And it's kinda hard to choose one. Although it may looks like that my favourite one is Tatemono no Omoide, I do prefer Hanami.

And below are my understanding about Tatemono no Omoide + the relation of the theme decay with buildings that I think it's connected. Since I'm interested in it, please provide your thoughts as well. I want to know how others interpret it.

[Spoiler alert about Tatemono no Omoide]

So, it seems that the spirits lost their home (apparently some lived on a tree, near a stream, and on a hill? And as for spirits whom lived "on a tree" I interpret it as : in the woods). And since those trees and hill get replaced, the spirits "decay" and became the "buildings" as to replace their home. Or, their home are decaying and so, the spirits chose the buildings to became their home.

And yeah, I write this at 1 AM. So, I kinda lose my focus. And sorry for my bad grammar or the potential "it doesn't make sense" wording.

Anyways, thank you!

Hello and thank you so much for your deep review, it  is very very very much appreciated.

Posting art (or game here) only makes sense when I can get others' opinions like yours. Whenever I produce a piece (or a story), it's always very important to me to leave its interpretation to the viewer. What I can provide are various hints but there's no right explanation, so I was very interested to read yours. The charm is, as in life, how we all perceive things differently. It's part of human nature and I love to celebrate this.

As I can't go back to Japan at the moment and I'm longing for it, most of my creations are based on memories (and further developed). I'd like however to make things accessible if possible. That's why I've purposely wrote "spirits" but "kami" would be better (often translated as "gods"). This story draws inspiration from shinto animist believes: I like your interpretation which makes perfect sense.

As for decay, it's both interpreted as impermanence and of course the decay of buildings. A hint is the Nakagin capsule hotel / tower which is about to be demolished (maybe it's done?) very very soon. Again I didn't want to make it explicit but I think you'd be interested to read that.

As much as I love to draw these images, the text is always the skeleton and Tatemono no Omoide really took me time before I could reach something I liked. I initially planned different variations on it but it was repetitive and didn't add anything . Taking a completely different angle and writing Aki-kun and Hanami was a very satisfactory experience. I'm quite happy that even if Tatemono no Omoide was the starting point, you liked  Hanami. I think it's the same for me. Aki-kun is kind of special, it's a character for which I've already produced more than 130 watercolor paintings that viewers mostly enjoy on instagram, so he's very familiar to me and has his own life. He's depicted here as a fictional book character but he actually lives tiny adventures online.

Again, thank you so much! You've made my day. I hope that you will enjoy these explanations too.

I won't call my review as deep tho. But, wow! Thanks for your explanations! I like how things are sometimes left open ended. I'm really satisfied with it. And Aki-kun's behind the scenes story sure are interesting! (I'm gonna check your Instagram, but I couldn't find any? And it's up to you, whether you want to share it or not). I'm glad that my so called little analysis make sense, when I re-read it, I'm anxious that it won't. And just like my review said, the stories appear in a simple form, but actually hold a deeper meaning behind it. Since this was based on everyday life stories and memories, I could relate with all of it. I agree with the other comment, it feels nostalgic

Don't worry, it makes perfect sense!

You can head to my profile, there's a link to my  website "hub" which provides links to various sites I'm using (as well as my full portfolio) or simply use https://www.instagram.com/jeansebastienmonzani/

jeansebastienmonzani instagram is my full name. I've created a jsmonzani instagram account in the past but could never retrieve its password for some reason >_<

Oh! Thanks again! I will look at your account later. Well, have a nice day! :D

I really loved this, so nostalgic. It reminded me that everything will pass at one point, both bad and good things... it hits where a lot of games don't.

Good effort! thank you for this little experience.

I'm touched by your comment, thank you! It's only once I've had completed the 3 stories that I've noticed that they all speak of impermanence, I'm glad you felt it ๐ŸŒธ A little emotional experience is what I'm after in my little games ๐Ÿ˜Š Have a great day!!
